When a community comes together in large numbers early in the day to help relocate an organization, it’s a powerful testament to its impact. That’s exactly what happened on February 4, 2017, when Torontonians rallied to move Blackhurst Cultural Centre (BCC) from the former Mirvish Village to our temporary home at 777 Bathurst Street. This collective effort not only inspired us but also captured the imagination of the entire city.
While BCC is proud to be an iconic Toronto destination, our true pride lies in the work we do behind the scenes—empowering youth leadership, preserving neighborhood history, fostering community well-being, and driving innovation.

Since 2015, we’ve celebrated the vibrant histories and contributions of Canadians of African and Caribbean descent. Located in Toronto’s iconic Bathurst-Bloor neighborhood, BCC brings stories to life through music, art, literature, and performance.
