About Us
Legacy Lives Here
Blackhurst Cultural Centre (BCC) (formerly known as A Different Booklist Cultural Centre) became a beloved Toronto icon when the community rallied to relocate the Centre to an expanded space in 2017. Beyond being a destination, BCC fosters youth leadership, preserves neighborhood history, promotes well-being, and drives innovation.

Testimonials
What’s the word
Don’t take our word for it, hear what others are saying
Blackhurst is where I want to bring my son to find his knowledge of self. The People’s Residence is an important physical building, but also an important representation of our culture and community. I support the evolution of ADBCC – a Toronto institution.

The People’s Residence is like my second home. It’s an important part of our community, celebrating and representing books, music, and culture.
It is also a great space to network, meet people and exchange ideas.

I support Blackhurst Cultural Centre for being a one-of-a-kind community centre, that does an amazing job in representing and honouring the rich culture of Canadians of Caribbean and African descent through amazing programs such as “Shakers: Shake Up Your Life”

I am a huge supporter of all the initiatives and events at Blackhurst Cultural Centre.
I have attended and been part of many educational and moving events at the centre and I consider it to be a very important part of the community. I cannot imagine a Toronto without Blackhurst Cultural Centre formerly ADBCC.
